Meatballs
  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 cup bread crumbs preferably Italian seasoned
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup parsley chopped
Mashed Potatoes
  • 2 lb potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk or cream
  • 1/4 cup butter unsalted
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Gravy
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp soy sauce optional
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method

Prepare Meatballs
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
Prepare Mashed Potatoes
  1. While the meatballs are baking, place the cubed potatoes in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
Make Gravy
  1. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  2. Slowly whisk in beef broth and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Serve
  1. Serve meatballs over mashed potatoes, drizzled with gravy.
