Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 te teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  6. Prepare a baking soda solution by combining 1/2 cup baking soda with 8 cups of water in a large pot. Bring to a boil.
  7. Divide the dough into equal pieces and shape each piece into a bunny shape.
  8. Boil each shape in the baking soda solution for about 30 seconds, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Mix the egg with 1 tablespoon of water and brush it over the pretzels. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
