Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole milk warmed
  • 2.25 teaspoons instant or active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted or salted butter melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup salted butter for layering
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon water for egg wash

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and melted unsalted or salted butter to the flour mixture; mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the salted butter evenly on top.
  7. Fold the dough into thirds, then roll it out again; repeat this process 2-3 times.
  8. Cut the dough into triangles and roll them up from the base to the tip.
  9. Place the rolled croissants on a baking sheet and let them rise for another 30-60 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake croissants for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
